Flexens hydrogen project was presented at Kokkola Material Week

The international Kokkola Material Week (20. - 23.11.2023) once again offered a comprehensive program on the current research and development prospects in the chemical industry, bioeconomy and battery technology. Flexens presented its hydrogen project in Kokkola and its impact on the green transition's value chain.

The purpose of Flexen's project is to build facilities for the production of hydrogen and ammonia as well as a storage area for ammonia on Kokkola's large industrial area. "The green ammonia produced in Flexen's planned plant will replace fossil fuels. It is fantastic to be able to tell about our project in Kokkola, which enables the green transition, and at the same time note how many positive things are happening around us right now. During the opening seminar, we also heard a presentation by our French partner Lhyfe, where they emphasized Finland's fantastic potential in renewable energy," says Flexen's chief operating officer Åsa Hedman.

This year, Kokkola Material Week was extended with a hydrogen-thematic side event "Nordic Hydrogen Forum" (21.11.), which focused on the entire value chain for the green transition. "The Baltic Sea region strives to be at the forefront of clean energy transition, and this goal is directed at billion-dollar investments in renewable energy. In my speech, I presented how hydrogen and ammonia can replace fossil fuels and raw materials," continues Hedman.

"The event is an excellent place to network both with international and local organizations. Many interesting discussions were also held with the residents and we will continue these next year. Thanks to the organizers for a well-organized event," says Flexens marketing and communications manager Juha Uppa.
